About me
Reclaiming my identity with a story my therapist side-eyes…
There was another life that I might have had, but I'm having this one.

The story of
Abby Eichorn
Abby never set out to become an author — at least not in the traditional, writing‑in‑a‑cabin‑in‑Vermont sense. Her path to the page was forged in crisis, rebuilt in resilience, and sharpened by a career spent managing the kinds of emergencies most people only read about.
She is the author of Dear Trauma, a memoir written in the thick of healing, when the truth was too heavy to hold and too important to ignore. With clarity, grit, and the kind of honesty that doesn’t flinch, Abby turns her lived experience into something fiercely human — a story about devastation, reclamation, and the stubborn hope that refuses to die.
Before she ever wrote a book, Abby built a life around navigating chaos with precision and compassion. She holds a Doctorate in Management with a specialization in Homeland Security, a Master’s in Public Administration, and a Bachelor’s in Emergency Management. For years, she has worked as a career emergency manager, leading communities through uncertainty, crisis, and recovery. Ironically — and somewhat hilariously — she became an author not by chasing the craft, but by surviving the kind of story no one asks for.
She lives in Maryland with her two dogs, Axel and Bella, who have no formal training in crisis response but excel in emotional support, comedic timing, and reminding her that joy is a muscle worth exercising.
Today, Abby uses both her professional expertise and her personal story to advocate for empowerment, safety, and trauma awareness. She writes, speaks, and shows up for others navigating their own aftermaths — proving that even when life breaks you open, you get to decide what grows there.
